Curtis on Tour returns to Highfield Hall with their summer New England Tour featuring Curtis alumni cellist Arlen Hlusko, violist Rimbo Wong, violinist Shannon Lee and guitarist Jordan Dodson. The program includes thrilling, diverse repertoire for classical guitar and strings including a range of works from Ludwig van Beethoven to contemporary composer David Ludwig.
The Curtis Institute of Music, “one of the world’s finest music academies” (BBC Culture), produces top prizewinners of international competitions, soloists with major ensembles, and today’s most promising artists. Embracing a “learn by doing” philosophy, Curtis educates and trains exceptionally gifted young musicians to engage with audiences through music-making of the highest caliber. With an average acceptance rate of around 4%, Curtis is among the most selective schools in the United States.
An embodiment of the school’s “learn by doing” approach, students, faculty, and alumni frequently perform in major venues throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas. In the U.S., Curtis ensembles perform regularly at Carnegie Hall (New York), the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (Boston), the National Gallery of Art (Washington, D.C.), the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts (Davis, CA), among other venues. Curtis on Tour is the Nina von Maltzahn Global Touring Initiative of the Curtis Institute of Music.
