Because traditional chowders are usually laden with salt pork and thickened with biscuits, many people don’t immediately think of them as a health food. However, using different thickeners, you can make delicious, satisfying and healthier versions, including a fish and tomato chowder and gluten-free clam chowder.  Learn to incorporate ingredients you usually have on hand to reduce cooking costs and make/ freezeP chowder bases ahead so you can enjoy these delicious soups with very little effort during the busy holiday season.
