House Music Series: “Bonbons”
February 14 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm| $25 – $35
Highfield warmly welcomes you to a Valentine’s Day winter chamber music concert.
This concert is the second installment in the House Music series entitled, “Bonbons.” The chamber music ensemble features Jelle Atema, flutist; Robin Roberts, flutist and pianist; and Cathy Bonnett, pianist. This event has been created to support our winter exhibit: Personae Gratae: Begin at Home
The program for this event will include romantic, lyrical, and dreamy musical pieces. Each melody will be a surprise corresponding to and drawn from a tray of numbered bonbons circulating throughout the audience. Each piece will last approximately three minutes giving the listeners a variety of vignettes to enjoy. There will be time for post-music discussion (or more playing by audience demand). Since the evening limits the numbered of distributed bonbons to twelve lucky people, all attendees will be provided commensurate desserts for the reception following—a wonderful event to share with a loved one.
Program to include:
Gluck’s, Dance of the Blessed Spirits
Bizet’s, Serenade Espaniole
Home is where chamber music began, and it is at our home where music and conversation will happen this season. Chamber music is composed for a small group of instruments without a conductor. Because of its intimate nature, chamber music has been described as “the music of friends”. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe described chamber music as “four rational people conversing”.
Pull up a chair and join this sweet, surprising conversation!
Register online today or call, 5o8-495-1878, ext. 2
The concert will be followed by a short discussion and light refreshments.
