Join us for an exclusive members-only preview of our new art exhibition, Collectors Collecting Collections!

Highfield opens the exciting new Winter 2022 season with an expertly curated one-of-a-kind exhibition exploring the time-honored tradition of collecting. What one collects, why, and how one collects will be surveyed throughout 2022 in a series of four installations. Inspired by studying the Beebe Family Archive stored at the Falmouth Historical Society and Museums on the Green, this four-part series reflects the fervent interests of the Beebe’s in flora, fine art, travel souvenirs, freshly grown food, subscriptions to music and ballet performances, and more.

Thematically organized, the collection series will launch this February with “Part 1, Natural World” The winter display includes pages from the 1953 herbarium of plants and trees that once grew around Highfield Hall; selected plates from a facsimile of The Temple of Flora, the stunning 1805 compilation of botanical renderings that Pierson Beebe gifted to the Falmouth Public Library; a drawing collection depicting a forest over a period of time and rare Russian boxes with nature and fairytale imagery.
