The health and wellness of our constituents are our top priority, and given the evolving situation with COVID19, this event has been cancelled.

We will continue to seek guidance from our local health officials and the CDC and keep you informed on future programming. We thank you for your cooperation and patience during this challenging time!

Embrace your inner artist and draw inspiration from the beautiful gardens and grounds of Highfield!

Illustrator Eliza Renz will lead a series of exercises in drawing from nature, focusing on different areas of  Highfield Hall & Gardens. Explore the natural surroundings of Highfield’s grounds and find encouragement to make marks on your paper, and enjoy the process.  Many beautiful plants will be in bloom in May. This class is for people of all artistic abilities– don’t be shy!

Take a walk with Eliza Renz who has recently illustrated a children’s book called Meadow Vole. Eliza lives locally and enjoys time with her family. Her background includes International Relations, Communications, and specifically Graphic Design. She received her Masters in Elementary Education and enjoys subbing in the schools locally. Art has always been a huge component of her life as her great grandparents comprised a collection of art that they shared with their community in Glens Falls, NY. The Hyde Collection is a varied collection of European Masters and artworks spanning centuries. This collection and the images are what spurred her love of art. Her children are grown now so she finds joy in sharing her love of art with others.

What To Bring: your curiosity, simple drawing tools, paper or sketch pad, and willingness to discover!

This is a great way to spend the afternoon with friends, or a birthday gift for someone you love.

*If you are willing, please submit your favorite drawing to become part of a future nature sketch/color book on the gardens and grounds of Highfield Hall & Garden.*
