CLOC Principal Conductor, Dr. Todd Florin, is here this week to talk about how theater can move forward in the age of the COVID-19 pandemic – the worst pandemic the world has seen in a century. During this episode, Todd will dive into the science behind COVID-19 and its implications for musical theatre and all those who create and enjoy it!

Todd A Florin, MD, MSCE has served as a principal conductor at CLOC for most summers since 2001, conducting over 25 shows at the Highfield over that time. Other conducting posts include The Savoy Company in Philadelphia, PA and Cincinnati Music Theatre and Footlighters, Inc in Cincinnati, OH. Dr. Florin is Associate Professor of Pediatrics (Emergency Medicine) at Ann and Robert H Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is Director of Research for the Division of Emergency Medicine at Lurie. Dr. Florin is an internationally recognized expert in the management of pediatric respiratory infectious diseases in the acute care setting, with grants from the National Institutes of Health and Gerber Foundation supporting his work.

Todd is currently leading an international study of more than 3000 children with pneumonia across 80 EDs in 19 countries. In addition, he is co-principal investigator of an international study examining the epidemiology and risk stratification of children with COVID-19 funded by the Canadian Institute of Health Research.

Highfield Hall & Gardens and the College Light Opera Company, partners and neighbors, are pleased to present this unforgettable talk. Lectures will touch on themes from the CLOC season but whether you are a CLOC regular or not, you won’t want to miss this unique opportunity!

Admission is FREE

Participants will be provided the FaceBook streaming link for the pre-recorded lecture, and a separate Zoom link to participate in the optional Q&A session immediately following the lecture.
