Garden Tip 177:
SPRING FLOWERING BULBS

Yesterday in the mail, I received The Netherland Bulb Company Catalog for spring flowering bulbs that you plant in the fall. It may seem odd to receive a fall bulb catalog in the spring but it is actually some very good marketing strategy.
The bulb company realizes that with gardens full of tulips, daffodils, hyacinth, scilla and more that we all have flowering bulbs in our sight and on our minds. We plant them in the fall and see them in the spring, so now is the best time for spring flowering bulb planning.
Now is the time to grab the garden notebook and note where we might want to add those additional clumps of daffodils, accent an area with tulips, or add a special or unique variety of bulb that we saw in a fellow gardener’s landscape. Sometimes timing is everything!
