How quickly the garden season evolves. Having just spent weeks planning, planting, and growing, we step into June, and it is time for garden editing.

Garden editing, removing anything that doesn’t add to the picture. Cutting back collapsed daffodil foliage, removing spent blooms of lilac and spirea, and controlling the growth of galloping shrubs, the list goes on and on.

The work will be constant now, for it is the little things that count. It is the unseen work that truly adds to the big picture, the work that makes a good garden great. I have said many times that the garden is never done, it evolves, and we are thankful for that.

Pots and troughs are formed by packing the mix around overturned plastic containers and then leaving them to cure. Hypertufa, for a classic old-world look, dig in and get creative.
