Elements
Fairy Houses of Highfield Hall & Gardens 2022
July 1st – September 5th
Fairy Houses now open! Summer 2022 – “Elements” allows us to explore the unseen magical world inhabited by nonhumans like fairies, sylphs, mythical water creatures, all of which derive from the 4 main elements of earth, air, water, and fire.
Highfield Hall & Gardens presents a fairy house themed installation this summer, and they are located outdoors amongst the trees and gardens and is open to the public for free. This summer’s theme The Elements, is open to interpretation regarding what category of elements artists and makers choose. The theme brings the invisible and the visible into “focus.” Participants can explore the ‘element’ theme from different perspectives like the spirited magical elemental* category or take the array of literary elements available to writers as an inspiration.
Highfield Hall is Falmouth’s public garden. Thousands of people visit us each year, and many will come specifically for the fairy houses this summer. A map of the grounds marking each fairy house and its maker will be available to visitors during open hours.
