Fairies: The First Environmentalists is open for Summer 2024

Come explore Highfield’s 2024 Fairy House installation in the woods! And bring your little friends – the fairies love to welcome little visitors.

Our 2024 Fairies are taking up residency on the wooded knoll just outside Highfield Hall’s West Garden’s gate. This bi-annual exhibit features works by 10 artists, makers and groups who designed and built unique abodes for their fairies using 100% all natural materials to establish fairies as “the first environmentalists”.

We’d like to thank our Fairy House Preparator, Helen Mangelsdorf, who helped create a welcoming wooded area to lure the fairies for a summer stay at Highfield. She organized locations for our fairy house makers, and assisted some fairyland creators as they installed these magical summer dwellings. We (and the fairies) are lucky to have had her expertise!

Visiting the Fairy Houses on our grounds is free, so please stop in the House Tuesday – Sunday for a Fairy House booklet. The booklet contains a map of the location, the Names of the homes and Makers, and a description of each home. There’s a Word Search challenge for the kids too!
